## A hardwood floor installation, from the first call to the final payment

This is how a typical flooring job goes in GetProSpace. Your jobs will differ, and the steps bend to fit.

1. **The measure.** Measure each room and photograph the existing floor, the transitions and the subfloor if you can see it. Note moisture or level problems on the job.
2. **An estimate by room.** Give each room its own line with square footage, the product and the install. Offer add-ons such as stairs, baseboards and furniture moving.
3. **The contract and the order.** The customer signs online and you bill a deposit to order material. Keep the order and the delivery date on the job's materials list.
4. **The install.** Schedule the crew and log each room. Photograph the subfloor prep and the install. Subfloor damage found when the old floor comes up goes through a change order.
5. **The final bill and the care.** Photograph each finished room, send the balance, and issue a warranty that names the product and the care it needs.

## Photos worth taking on every flooring job

Photos protect you if the work is questioned later. They are kept with the job by phase, with the time they were taken, and you choose which ones the customer sees.

- The existing floor in each room before you start
- Transitions and doorways
- The subfloor once the old floor is up, with problems marked
- Moisture readings, if you take them
- Each finished room from the doorway
- A before and after pair for the main room

## What changes mid-job for flooring installers

Each of these can change the price or the schedule once the work starts. A change order writes it down, sends it for approval and adds the approved amount to the job's price.

- Subfloor that is damaged, uneven or damp
- Hidden layers of old flooring or adhesive
- A room added after the material is ordered
- A product discontinued before the order

## What flooring installers use most

- **Estimates and e-signed agreements.** Build the estimate with packages and add-ons, send it by text from your business line or by email, and have it accepted and signed online. The flooring estimate template shows the layout.
- **Photos, marks and before-and-afters.** Take photos on the job, draw arrows and circles on them, pair a before with an after, and make a PDF photo report.
- **Schedule and crews.** Put each day on the calendar, assign people, and see warnings before anyone is double-booked.
- **Invoices and payment records.** Bill deposits and balances, record each payment you receive, and see what is owed.
- **Changes to the price.** Write up extra work, send it for approval, and keep the job's price and schedule honest.
- **Warranties.** Issue a warranty certificate in your own words. For example: "We cover installation defects such as gapping, lifting and loose boards for two years; the manufacturer covers the product."

## Questions from flooring installers

### Can I price each room separately?

Yes. An estimate is a list of lines you write yourself, with quantities and prices, so a room can be a line or a group of lines with its own square footage.

### Can I keep a record of what was ordered and delivered?

Yes. A job has a materials list that can be filled from the accepted estimate, and you mark what has been received and what is still due.

### Can I add a warranty with the product name?

Yes. Create a warranty type with a blank for the flooring product and issue it when the job is done. The certificate shows the product and the term.

### Is GetProSpace only for flooring installers?

No. It is made for any trade that quotes, schedules and bills jobs. The estimates, documents, warranties and roles are written in your own words.

### Do I need a card to try it?

No. Every new company starts a 14-day Pro trial with no card.
