How do change orders work?
A change order writes down extra work or a change in the plan, with its price and any days it adds. You send it, the customer approves it online, and the approved amount is added to the job's price and its invoices. It keeps a job's price and schedule honest.
Step by step
- On the job, choose New change order.
- Say what changed and why, add the lines and any schedule impact.
- Send it to the customer by text or email.
- When they approve, the job's agreed price updates, and you can bill it.
Good to know
- A change order can be a credit, with a negative total.
- The customer can approve or decline online, and it can only be answered once.
- You can withdraw one that is waiting for an answer.
